Show & Tell

December 26, 2011 by Carey Jane Clark

I want to take this opportunity to thank those who have purchased their copy of After the Snow Falls. It’s only $4.99 after all, and if you have a new eReader, it’s the perfect way to try it on for size :) If you don’t have an eReader, there’s still a chance to read it by downloading the apps for Nook or Kindle.

I had some time last week to design a new Facebook landing page for those who like After the Snow Falls, and wanted to share it with you:

Facebook landing page image

To see it in operation, go to www.facebook.com/AfterTheSnowFalls. If you’ve already “liked” the page, a different image will show up, but Facebook defaults to the wall for “likers,” so to see the second image, you have to click on “Welcome” on the menu bar at the left.

Guest Post at My Only Vice

December 17, 2011 by Carey Jane Clark

My Only Vice”=I want to thank Julie for the opportunity to be a guest at My Only Vice. I’m honored. Julie asked me what my inspiration for After the Snow Falls was–basically why I would choose such a difficult topic to write about, and whether there was a personal connection to the events of the story. (For a synopsis of the story, see the review yesterday.)

I don’t think I set out to write about a difficult topic. My desire was to write something meaningful. I think it’s just as possible to write something meaningful in a quirky, light hearted way. I really enjoy authors who are able to do that–to entertain you and keep you laughing and then turn around and make you take a look at yourself in the mirror.

Big Day

November 23, 2011 by Carey Jane Clark

Monday was an exciting day for me. I signed a publishing contract with Trestle Press for my novel After the Snow Falls.

Here is the “backcover copy” for the story:

In the middle of a soccer drill, in an awful, awkward moment, Celia Bennett’s eight-year-old son Caleb lands on his face and chest in the grass. The diagnosis blindsides her, bringing her face-to-face with every parent’s worst nightmare.

Desperate to save her son’s life, Celia pursues a cure through alternative medicine, but her quest ends in frustration and disappointment. Facing despair, hope walks in on the most unlikely set of legs, when her father returns after a 30-year absence. Can she release pain to embrace hope? Will it make a difference, or is it too late?

I’m excited about Trestle Press because they’re a newer press and on the cutting edge of getting fiction to readers, making it available first as ebooks. Stay tuned for more information on publication dates!

You can watch the video trailer at www.afterthesnowfalls.com.

September 3 in 30, Week 4

September 24, 2011 by Carey Jane Clark

3 in 30 buttonFeeling a little overwhelmed this week. I began work on my proposal to send to agents, and feeling the strain a little. More on that a little later this week.

Here’s  how I’m doing on my goals:

  1. Bible in 90 Days – On day 65, should be on day 77. Yes, the gap is widening.
  2. Revision – Getting there, but looked over some of the previous chapters and realized they still need a bit more work. Will it ever end?
  3. Starting Homeschool – The cracks started to show a bit this week–fortunately, we filled them in with field trips! On Monday, it’s back to a normal schedule, no matter what!
