Release Day

butterfly release 1

On Friday, we struck out for some nature spot where we could release the butterflies. We are sort of new to the area (subject for another post), and we ended up discovering a great new park, unfortunately, it’s kind of out of biking range for further excursions, but it suited our purposes very well for butterfly releasing–lots of tall colorful flowers.

There was a moment of sadness about letting them go, but for the most part, everyone was excited to see how eager the butterflies were to be released (bumping furiously against the plastic lid of the butterfly house) and how high they flew in the sky immediately after they were let go. Some flew straight out the moment we cracked the lid open, but with a lot of patience, each child had one crawl on a finger and was able to release one butterfly.

And isn’t my son a great photographer?
